The discovery of the Brescia Neanderthal (in Italian)

The archaeological site on Monte Budellone in Prevalle (BS), dating back to the Middle Palaeolithic, is a discovery of great scientific importance and has enormous potential for studies concerning the reconstruction of the settlement dynamics of Neanderthal hunter-gatherer groups in our territory. It is, in fact, the only site in Lombardy associated with Neanderthal man that has retained well-preserved animal remains together with numerous chipped stone artefacts.
To explore this extraordinary discovery in our territory in detail, three events are proposed as a follow-up to the “Archaeology and Science” initiative launched in the academic year 2024-2025, dedicated to the population of the Garda area.
